This unique book of images and narratives by Dr Debal Sen, is one where the photographer-author quotes TS Eliot to depict time “If all time is eternally present / All time is unredeemable.”
The book starts with the chapter “Departure” for the "young boy on a night train, to a land of myth and legend" termed Chotanagpur. The monochrome and sepia images depict the seamless travel, in and out of the young boy and the adult man in the hat’s experiences, in belongingness to natural wonders, the grandeur of old homes, ruins, indigenous people of all ages in the areas, and facets of their challenging lives, which they live with stoicism. The book ends with “Return” of the man in the hat to “one” of his many homes – where he sits and writes his memories, enriched by the unfurling of the thousand petals of his Consciousness. A magical journey for the viewer / reader, moreso, being the apt sequel to the author's autobiographical rendering, Once Upon A Time.
